5 principles of a healthy life

Live healthy, live longer - recent research has shown that a balanced life means a longer life. The Journal of the American Geriatric Society published a study at the end of 2016 demonstrating that a healthy lifestyle can not only prolong life but reduce the risk of chronic diseases in the final years. Thus, the research revealed the following data: a man in the healthiest lifestyle group can live 4.8 years longer than his most unhealthy lifestyle counterpart. Moreover, in the last years of his life, the healthy subject will spend only the last two suffering from diseases, compared to 3.7 allocated to his counterpart from the unhealthy group.

Taking these statistics into account, specialists encourage a balanced lifestyle that includes healthy habits and complementary food choices. Regarding nutrition, health can be maintained by following 5 basic rules:

1. Variety

Diverse meals and moderately consumed food contribute to the daily intake of vitamins and nutrients needed by the body to ensure maximum yield.

2. Natural

As the prognoses for chronic diseases increase, the need for organic ingredients intensifies. Finding suppliers of natural products and using them in the preparation of each meal will help the body eliminate toxins and strengthen its immunity.

3. Meat

Replacing meat with vegetables can be a healthy strategy for reducing fat in food. When prepared, it is recommended to cook it in the oven and to avoid frying.

4. Moderation

Health care is a daily commitment to the mind and body. Thus, meals should be regular and based on complementary foods, consumed in moderation.

5. Calories

Calories play an extremely important role in the body as they provide the daily energy potential. Nutritionists estimate that a person needs about 2,000 calories a day, but the number varies according to the individual: age, height, sex, etc.

These five principles have a direct effect on the quality of life and the maintenance of the best health. Moreover, besides respecting these principles, it is important for everyone to access a private health insurance in order to receive the consultations and treatments that they need at the best clinics in Europe and in the world.
